Saturday, 7th february 2015, The Voice of Immortal party (VIP) 7 was held at the west part of Gor Lila Bhuana’s parking area. This event is an annual concert presented by the English Students’ Assocation or Esa of Faculty of Letters and cultures, Udayana University, in purpose to celebrate the anniversary of The English Department and also the ESA itself. VIP has been held for seven times since 2009. This year, the commite of the VIP 7 agreed to use the theme of “Propinquity to Eminence” for showing what is the purpose and the spirit of this event.
Around 150 committees were working for months to prepare this event. But, before VIP 7, there were also two events that have been held by ESA; The ESA’s Bazzar 2014 and ECC (English Charity and Competition 2014).
There
are some innovations in VIP 7. Band Audition, Meet and Greet Event and Official
Merchandise selling were firstly held this year. The band audition was
surprisingly breaking the committee’s expectation. More than 15 Demo’s from
local underground bands came to the committee, however, only the best three would
be the winner and would have a chance to try the huge concert venue of VIP 7. On
the concert date, the Golden and Silver tickets holder was able to attend the Meet
and Greet Event with both of the guest stars; Divide and Seringai.
Laboral,
Shorten Us to Heaven, and Sedarah were the three audition winner that started
the big line-up of VIP 7. As they played, the audience that dominated by youths
and teenagers with black themed costumes were rapidly coming into the concert.
After those audition winner bands, Alternate came to the stage and spread their
unique electronical-pop hardcore music. Then, Crown Crust and The end of Osama
succeed to heat-up the arena. Next, Human Autopsy as the rising star of bali’s
underground scene came up to the stage and blast their death-core tracks. Then
came Antipop’s turn, grinding the audience ears with their social revolt themed
song. With more than 10 years of
experience, they have succeed to satisfy the audience. Time for punk, The
Djihard chastened the stage with 5 or more songs including “Mantram Gayatri”
and “Bali Tolak Reklamasi”, one of the hottest issues in Bali or even Indonesia
right now. After The Djihard, one of the biggest name of Bali's metal scene,
“Parau” showed. Back to the punk, Natterjack successfully made the audience
sing along with their famous tracks before finnaly the time for the guest stars
came.
Around 9 pm, Divide, one of the guest stars came out. They showed all-out. Their fans seemed pleased so did them. After 45 minutes, they blasted their final song which also indicated that in a short time, the most anticipated Band in this event, Seringai, would perform.
Their breathtaking opening showed their class. Dark stage, smoke-spreading effect, grim-ritmic music as backround, and two giant LCDs shows their iconic of wolf’s skull made the audiences automaticcly shouted the name of “Seringai” repeatedly. Not giving a chance to the audience to calm down, Seringai was directly playing the song of “Serigala Militia” as their premier. Followed by “Individu Merdeka”, “Citra Natural”, “Berhenti di 15”, “Kilometer Terakhir”, the band equilibrated the wild yet fascinating mosh of the thousand people in the concert arena. At around 11 p.m, Seringai successfully finished this glorious Voice of Immortal Party 7 with their final song “Program Party Seringai”.
